LoBue encouraged Novak to move as well and made him a fractional partner. Novak followed along shortly thereafter. LoBue opened his new store, LoBue Guitars at 394
Hayes.
I was fortunate to find one of LoBues original customers from this store. Dennis Kong was extremely interested in jazz fusion music and being a bass player himself particularly drawn to the music of Alphonso Johnson. Kong found his way to 394 Hayes several times before finally meeting up with LoBue. The two struck up a friendship. Kong had a real enthusiasm about Alphonso Johnson and also the bass that LoBue made for Johnson. He indicated that he would go by the shop often and just talk “Johnson” and basses with LoBue.
