Alex Music (48th Street)

LoBue had a creative , free spirit and felt restricted while working at Alex Music. He left after his contract expired. Alex retained the “Guitar Lab” name, LoBues’ templates and tooling, shop machinery, and the rights to any innovations LoBue made while under the contract.

While working at Alex Music in 1977, Novak attended a NAMM show to represent Alex Axe guitars. This show in Anaheim, California was Novak’s first west coast experience. The California climate left a strong impression on Novak and as a result, LoBue and Novak decided to move to San Francisco to open a new shop.
